The Rev. Matt Curry, pastor of Central Presbyterian Church, will preach a two-part sermon series in August on the relationship between serving God and country.
The series is called “God and Country: Christian Citizenship in the 21st Century.” Part 1, on Aug. 2, will focus on the responsibilities of being a Christian citizen. Holy Communion will be served during that service. All the faithful are welcome to receive the sacrament, regardless of church membership or denominational affiliation.
The final part of the sermon series, on Aug. 9, will examine the biblical guidance for dealing with conflicts between serving God and serving your country.
Curry, a former legislative aide, newspaper and wire service journalist who holds a master’s in divinity from Brite Divinity School in Fort Worth, has been pastor of CPC since 2012.
The church, located at 402 N. College St., worships at 11 a.m. on Sundays.
