Fruitful Congregations Sermon Series
Series to explore practices of fruitful congregations
August 23, 2016–The Rev. Matt Curry will begin a five-part sermon series on practices that characterize vital, fruitful Christian congregations on Sunday, Sept. 4 at Central Presbyterian Church of Waxahachie.
The series is based on the book Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations, by Robert Schnase, a United Methodist bishop who explored the topic after noticing that vital congregations demonstrate some common traits.
Curry, CPC’s pastor, said speaking of these five practices gives the church a language by which to examine itself as it sharpens its efforts to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
“These practices are each so important to the mission and ministry of a church that failure to do all of them with excellence can result in decline,” Curry said. “God is still using churches to transform lives, and people are eager to be a part of congregations that demonstrate these five practices.”
Here is the schedule for the sermon series:
Sept. 4 – The Practice of Radical Hospitality
Sept. 11 – The Practice of Passionate Worship
Sept. 18 – The Practice of Intentional Faith Development
Sept. 25 – The Practice of Risk-Taking Mission and Service
Oct. 2 – The Practice of Extravagant Generosity
