CPC opts out of open carry law
February 24, 2016–
On January 1, 2016, the open carry law became effective in Texas. This law enables licensed individuals to carry a weapon in a holster in plain sight almost everywhere. The law also gave churches the right to opt out by posting certain signs. The penalty for carrying a weapon into a building with these signs is a Class C misdemeanor.
The Session of Central Presbyterian Church voted unanimously to post these signs so that nobody will be allowed to openly carry a weapon inside any of our buildings. The signs are on order and will soon be placed at each door.
