Adult Bible Study during VBS
July 5, 2016–Adults will have the opportunity to have VBS this year too July 10th-13th!
The first two nights, we will study what two of the parables of Jesus reveal about God. The third night, we will focus on what scripture says about how we are to practice love for one another, and whom we are commanded to love. In other words: Just who is our neighbor, anyway? On the fourth and final night, we take a look at prayer: What does the Lord’s Prayer tell us about how we should relate to God and to each other in community?
Here is the schedule:
Sunday, July 10. The Parable of the Sower, aka The Reckless Farmer. Matt. 13: 1-23; Mark 4: 1-20; and Luke 8: 4-15. What can we learn about God from the story of a farmer who is willing to spread seed everywhere, not simply where it might offer the best prospects for a good crop?
Monday, July 11. The Parable of the Lost Sheep. Matt. 18: 21-14; Luke 15: 3-7. We learn what Jesus has to say about God by studying the story of a shepherd who leaves 99 behind to go out and find just one that is lost.
Tuesday, July 12. The Parable of the Good Samaritan. Luke 10: 25-37. Who is our neighbor?
Wednesday, July 13. The Lord’s Prayer. Luke 11: 1-13.
Everyone is invited to a light supper at 5:30pm with Bible study beginning at 6:15.
