Central Presbyterian Church - Worship
Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Psalm 100: 1-3
Worship at Central is designed to praise and honor God joyfully, acknowledge God’s presence in the world, and offer ourselves to God while meeting the spiritual needs of the variety of worshipers who attend our services. Worship is structured around the six elements of Christian worship as defined by the Presbyterian Book of Order: prayer, reading and proclaiming scripture, the sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper, self-offering, and relating to each other and to the world.
The Sacrament of Baptism
Baptism, the public profession of faith made in the presence of the people of God, unites us with Jesus Christ and initiates us into the church community. This sacrament is administered to infants upon the request of parents who are members, and to unbaptized adults and youth wishing to become members.
The Sacrament of Holy Communion
The Sacrament of Holy Communion, also called the Lord’s Supper, is celebrated during morning worship on the first Sunday of each month. Communion is also offered during selected special celebrations such as Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and Christmas Eve.
Communion can also be arranged for shut-ins and those unable to attend the church service. The pastor and an elder provide this service monthly.
The 11:00 a.m. service is the cornerstone of our Sunday services featuring worship with the traditional Presbyterian liturgy, scripture, prayers and pastoral message enhanced by the music of the Chancel Choir, Jubilate Ringers, the pipe organ, grand piano and special instrumentalists.
All ages are welcomed and encouraged to worship as a family. Most Sunday's Children's church is offered as an alternative for children 3rd grade and under.
