February 15, 2015- Central Presbyterian Church invites the community to a special dinner and worship service on “Ash Wednesday,” Feb. 18. A simple soup and bread dinner will be served at 6 p.m., followed by a worship service. Communion, by intinction, will be offered during the service. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, the 44 days preceding Easter. Lent is traditionally a time of reflection, repentance and simplicity recalling the 40 days Jesus spent fasting in the desert, enduring temptation by Satan, before beginning his public ministry. Lent can be viewed as a time for “spiritual spring cleaning.” It is a time many Christians exercise spiritual disciplines such as prayer, fasting, scripture reading and giving. Nursery services will be available during the Ash Wednesday worship service.
